I wish this was a post about us moving to a new house. It's not. But it is about my little guy moving to a new bed. That's just about as exciting, right?
My goal was to have Ben in a big boy bed by the end of May. The planner in me wanted him to get used to a bed before the baby came and stole his crib. May didn't happen so I pushed it back to the end of June. It's how things roll around here. After John caught Ben swinging in and out of the crib like a monkey, we decided the sooner the better. Knowing that tonight was the night, and because I'm abnormally cheesy and sentimental these days, I had to take a picture of Ben's last morning in his crib. Plus, his hair was looking exceptionally good this morning. What can I say, he gets his bedhead from me. (That and he's about two months too late for a haircut. Gotta get on that...)
Ben's been dying to cut open the bed box for weeks (we didn't get the bed put together until June, but it's been sitting in a box in the playroom since May). He was super excited to help dad put it together, but he had even more fun taking the crib apart. The whole time he was helping he kept saying, "I'm a worker guy." He's really going through a manual labor phase right now...
After we got it all set up and the bed made, we did a little reading...
And then it was time for bed. He seemed a little nervous when we tucked him in, but he went right down.
I can't believe my little baby is in a big boy bed. It seems like such a big step to me. Plus, I'm worried that because he's not caged in anymore it'll be the end of naps. I guess we'll see tomorrow. Cross your fingers for me!

He is getting so big! That first picture he looks so grown up and ready for his big boy bed. I hope the naps stick around for awhile for your sake!
I am sure he will do so good. He looks so big in his new bed. Good Luck.
He looks little again in his big boy bed! I hope he loves it! We just transferred Easton too and he has been doing ok, although we had a few nights where he woke up a ton and I wanted to die. He stays in his bed though and is actually taking better naps than usual! Ben will do great!
Such a big step!! Congratulations, Ben.
He'll do great! He's such a cute kid. I like how you documented it!
I can't believe how dang cute he looks in his bed, I just love that benny boy! I'm so glad he comes to play all the time, we love having him over!
Big bed, what a step. As long as he doesn't know that naps are "an option" at this point you may be ok. Avery didn't know that she was allowed to get out of bed when she got in her big bed, It was awesome. She would lay there until we told her she could get out. Now you need a new house-in Saratoga Springs !!!!
So cute! And so big. I hope he still naps for you!
Awww, it's that part of parenting that I really missed. Moving my kids to bed. They never stay in their crib, they sleep with me. So the big move for me is kicking them out of my bed into theirs...and unless my room is locked, they crawl right back in. So now, I have two beds. One for me and hubby in our bedroom and another in our huge closet.
How has it been since then? Is he okay without the side bed rail? My little one is a torpedo in bed, so I would be afraid he'd go flying out!
Soo.. how did it all go is he staying in there for you all night OR.. lol is he walking himself into your room ?? (we had this with all the kids! BUT Rune changes the cribs at 18 months so we are bound to have that problem!)
Oh Mann... I hope it is going well. I want to swing by next week and bring you lunch if that is ok. Any particular day good for you?
He's so big and SO adorable. What a cutie. It's a big step when they move into a big bed, but that does not have to be the end of naps. He'll nap as long as he needs them. Good luck with that.
